Many factors influence body hair appearance. Age, ethnicity, medications, hormone levels and where the hair is on the body. These factors affect the length, coarseness and color of hair. Hairs are not all actively growing at the same time. Hair has three distinct stages: growth (anagen) this stage is when hair is darkest, regression (catagen) and resting (telogen). After the resting stage hair falls out and the hair follicle begins the cycle again.

Essentially Bare uses the world's most advanced treatment for hair removal the Lightsheer™ diode laser system from Coherent Medical Systems. We selected this laser because of its proven and unmatched track record and its ability to treat darker skinned clients. Please note there are many lasers and non-laser light sources that are being used for hair removal. The LightSheer™ has FDA clearance for permanent hair reduction (a claim virtually no other laser can make). We believe that this is the best technology currently available. The beam of laser light targets the pigment contained within the hair follicle below the skin surface. The laser energy is selectively absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle and hair shaft, which disables the hair's growth center. A patented chill tip stabilized the surrounding skin leaving it unaffected. The hair follicles in the angen (growth phase) are the darkest and absorb the most energy these follicles are the best target and achieve optimum results complete hair removal or severe retriction of regrowth. Because not all hairs are in this stage at one time, multiple treatments may be necessary (based on what the client wants to achieve).

This procedure involves placing hot wax on the skin letting it cool to an appropriate temperature, and pulling off. This results in removal of the hair for 4-6 weeks. It can cover large areas. Unfortunately, you must have very visible hair for this treatment to be effective. It can be painful and some people have allergic reactions.

Involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle (not suitable for ingrown hairs) and applying an electrical current. Expertly used, it can be successful in eliminating hair permanently. Because Electrolysis only treats one hair follicle at a time, it is tedious and time-consuming process that can take years.

Razor and Electric Shaving are simple, but temporary solutions. Requiring daily maintenance (sometimes twice daily). Some people never can achieve a hair free look (5 o'clock shadow). It does not affect the coarseness, thickness, growth rate or cycle.

For most clients this is not an option due to the time consuming tasking of plucking hairs one at a time. This would not be an option for large areas.
